New York Court System Suspends Trials Due to Coronavirus

New York State Courts are postponing civil and criminal trials in response to the coronavirus.

The Chief Administrative Judge says civil jury trials in which opening statements have not yet been heard will be postponed until further notice. Trials already underway will run to their conclusion. No new criminal jury trials will begin; trials already underway will likewise run to their conclusion.

Jury selection is suspended until further notice and no new grand juries will be empaneled. Existing grand juries will continue.
