New York To Shelve Update To Bottle Bill For Now

The state lawmaker who proposed this year expanding New York's bottle bill to include wine, liquor and cider bottles is shelving the idea -- for now.

Senator Todd Kaminsky told a public radio show last week he is focusing instead on creating a task force to evaluate fraud in the bottle redemption system.

He says some stores in New York are selling beers and sodas from out of state, and some consumers are redeeming bottles they bought in other states.

Kaminsky says the state is losing millions of dollars
