Irondequoit Police Chief Leaving Force to Take Job With Monroe Co.

Irondequoit Police Chief Richard Tantalo is leaving to take a job in Monroe County Executive Adam Bello's administration.

Bello has chosen him to serve as the county's public safety director.

Tantalo has been the chief in Irondequoit for more than six years, and has been with the police department for more than 30 years.

He has a master’s degree in public administration from SUNY Brockport.

Captain Alan Laird has been named to serve as interim chief.
