SUNY Brockport's Chief Diversity Officer Dismissed

SUNY Brockport President Heidi MacPherson has scheduled a campus town hall meeting tonight to discuss the dismissal of the university's chief diversity officer, Cephas Archie.

His dismissal led to a protest on campus Friday night and much discussion on social media.

He was hired in August 2017 and led efforts to promote inclusion on campus.

The university says the dismissal is a personnel matter and won't discuss the reason.

Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren said on Facebook, "It’s unfortunate when the people that work toward diversity and inclusion across the collegiate spectrum also face it themselves."

Tonight's town hall starts at 7 in the Seymour Union Ballroom.
