Rochester Catholic Diocese Files Motion for Sex Abuse Lawsuit Deadline

The Catholic diocese in Rochester has filed a court motion to set a deadline for the filing of sex abuse lawsuits under New York's Child Victims Act.

The deadline would be August 13th, and would coincide with the end of the temporary suspension of the statute of limitations for old claims.

But there is a bill pending in the state legislature that could extend that filing window another year.

The diocese has filed for bankruptcy amid the dozens of lawsuits filed by people claiming to be sex abuse survivors.
