Charges Dismissed In July Weyl Street Fight Over Gun

A judge has thrown out charges against a man who got into a fight with Rochester police officers over a loaded gun.

According to the D&C, the judge ruled the officers did not have probable cause to approach Treiquan Hawkins and the gun that they recovered could not be used as evidence.

Further, the judge ruled testimony from one of the officers could not be considered without body camera footage to support it.

Hawkins had been charged with weapon possession felonies, assault and resisting arrest.

Hawkins and the officers suffered minor injuries during the scuffle last July on Weyl Street.
