Wegmans Ending Use of Single-Use Plastic Bags in January

Wegmans Food Markets will end its use of single-use plastic bags at all stores in New York starting this month. Wegmans will stop using the plastic bags and shift to using paper bags on January 27. A $0.05 fee will be applied for each paper bag by Wegmans in counties or cities or towns choose not to apply the fee. In that case, the charge for the paper bag will be donated to the local food bank serving each region. The ban on single-use plastic bags in New York State takes effect on March 1.
