Legislation Vetoed By Governor For eBikes, eScooters In NYS

Governor Cuomo has vetoed legislation that would have allowed e-bike and e-scooter rental companies to operate in the state.

Cuomo is not against allowing the companies to do business. But he says the legislation did not include enough safety precautions for riders.

He wants a helmet to be required at all times. And he wants more limits on where the e-bikes and scooters can be used.

And Cuomo says the bill should include a prohibition against operating while impaired by drugs or alcohol and mandatory front and rear lights.
