RCSD Budget Saga Continues With Crucial School Board Vote Tonight

The Rochester City school board meets tonight to vote on the budget cuts that Superintendent Terry Dade says are needed to balance the budget.

The proposed cuts include the mid-year layoffs of more than 150 teachers.

The teachers union plans to hold a protest rally outside the district office before the 5:30 board meeting.

The local union will be joined by the president of the state teachers union and Randi Weingarten -- the president of the American Federation of Teachers.

Dade met with union leaders earlier this week to ask for concessions that could save some of the jobs. The union has not offered any concessions.
