Governor Cuomo Proposing Plan to Lower Prescription Drug Costs

Governor Cuomo is proposing what he says is a three part plan to lower prescription drug costs for New Yorkers.

He wants to cap insulin co-payments at $100 per month for insured diabetics.

He also wants to give the State Department of Financial Services the power to investigate and hold drug manufacturers accountable for exorbitant increases in drug prices.

And the governor wants to establish a blue ribbon panel to study the feasibility and benefits of a Canadian drug importation program.

The proposals are part of his legislative wish list for the New Year.
