GOP Sues Cuomo Over Election For 27th Congressional District Seat

New York's Republican party is suing Governor Cuomo and the State Board of Elections...because they haven't yet scheduled a special election to fill the vacant 27th Congressional District seat.

That's the seat given up by former Buffalo-area Congressman Chris Collins, after he was charged in a federal insider trading investigation.

GOP Chair Nick Langworthy and two voters, one from Scottsville and one from Holley, filed the suit. It charges that 750,000 residents of the 27th are being left without congressional representation.

Governor Cuomo seems inclined to schedule the special election on Presidential Primary election day in the spring...but Republicans say that would give Democrats an advantage since they'll also be turning out for the Democratic primaries.
