Sen. Schumer Urging FAA to Complete Study on Legroom on Airplanes

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer is urging the FAA to complete its overdue study involving legroom on airplanes. It was due in October and the New York Democrat says without federal action, airlines could shrink space between seats even more.

The FAA is expected to establish regulations regarding legroom, minimum seat width, length and pitch. Schumer says passengers are being shoved into seats like they're in a "can of sardines."

The agency has released a statement saying it expects to wrap up testing by the end of the year.
