New York Ranked 11th Healthiest State

A new analysis shows New York has made big gains in public health over the past 30 years.

The America's Health Rankings Annual Report says New York is the 11th healthiest state. The state was ranked number 40 in 1990.

The report says part of the gain is due to better access to health insurance and primary care doctors. Infant mortality has been cut by more than half.

Vermont is the healthiest state.

The rankings were compiled by the United Health Foundation and the American Public Health Association.
