Buffalo Man Sentenced To Two Years For Diabetic Test Strip Scheme

A Buffalo-area man will serve two-and-a-half years in prison for a fraud scheme involving diabetic test strips.

Federal prosecutors say Antonio Rivera was a senior purchasing associate for CVS pharmacies.

Last year, CVS noticed diabetic test strips were being ordered for a Rochester store from a company that was not a regular vendor.

An internal investigation found more than 20,000 boxes of test strips -- worth more than $2.5 million -- had been ordered and couldn't be accounted for.

The investigation found Rivera was diverting the shipments to an associate in Florida. His sentence requires him to pay back the $2.5 million.
