RCSD Superintendent to Ask for State Aid to Close Budget Deficit

Rochester School Superintendent Terry Dade says he will ask the state for an additional $20 million to help close the school district's budget deficit.

He says the potential deficit in the district is $64 million. He hopes to cut $28 million in spending outside the classrooms and save nearly $10 million with staff reductions.

Under the plan, 168 teachers, 18 administrators and 101 others would be cut.

Dade will send his proposed staff reduction plan to the school board on Monday.

That would start a two week dialogue on the cuts, with a board vote on December 19.
