City Schools Hire New Chief Financial Officer

The Rochester City School District is hiring Monroe County Finance Director Robert Franklin as its new Chief Finance Officer.

Franklin will replace former CFO Everton Sewell, who resigned in October following revelations the district overspent its last budget by $30 million. He worked for about 20 years for Monroe County and served as county finance director for more than six years. During that time he's credited with creating a county fund balance and increasing the county's bond rating.

Franklin starts with the city school district on January 2nd. School Superintentent Terry Dade says his work will be critical in getting the city school district out of its financial troubles.
