Brighton Police Release More Details in Decades Old Ax Murder Case

Brighton Police Chief David Catholdi calls the ax murder of Cathleen Krauseneck in 1982 "one of the worst outcomes of domestic violence" ever in Brighton.

Police say the case was never closed, but investigators took a fresh look at the all the evidence starting in 2015. Catholdi says investigators have established James Krauseneck was home when his wife was killed.

And he says there was no evidence any one else was there.

Catholdi says there is no single smoking gun that links Krauseneck to the murder, rather he says it is the totality of the evidence.

Krauseneck lives now in Arizona and is free on bail. The next court date is January 27th, and the trial is set for June 2.
