RPD Assailant Should Have Already Been In Jail

It's not clear why Keith Williams was not already in jail last week when he allegedly attacked Rochester Police Officer Denny Wright.

District Attorney Sandra Doorley says Williams was given an eight-month sentence in June for violating a protective order.

That sentence came after his separate arrest this spring for a shooting and a standoff with police.

Doorley says that case has not been presented to a grand jury.

Williams pleaded not guilty yesterday to aggravated assault and aggravated attempted murder in the attack on the officer.
