Section V Denies Waiver to East High Football Star

Section Five football has refused a waiver to allow an East High School student athlete to play this season...and East officials are trying to get the ruling appealed or overturned in the courts before Junior Seven McGee misses more than tonight's game against Eastridge.

East High Superintendent Shaun Nelms says this happened after McGee transferred to a high school in California...then back to East after finding the California program was under investigation. Section five refused to grant a waiver because the California school didn't send supporting documentation. He says McGee's future is being stalled by a "piece of paper."

Nelms says there's an appeals process and East is also looking into legal action to get McGee playing. He says they tried to get an injunction allowing him to play tonight, but couldn't get the paperwork filed in time.
