New Gun Legislation Allows Access To Out Of State Health Records

Governor Cuomo has signed yet another piece of gun reform legislation.

It closes a loophole to give law enforcement access to out-of-state records to keep people with dangerous mental illnesses from getting a firearm license in New York.

The current law allows people to apply for a firearm license in the county they live in, regardless of their permanent residence.

Supporters of the new legislation say it will allow police to take extra precautions to keep themselves and the public safe.
