Cuomo: New York's Gun Laws Should Be Adopted Nationwide

Governor Cuomo is touting New York as a model on gun control, and is urging the presidential candidates to pledge to adopt the state's gun laws nationwide.

Six years ago, Cuomo pushed through one of the nation's toughest gun-control laws, called the SAFE Act, following the Newtown, Connecticut, school shooting massacre.

The law expanded a ban on military-style weapons and high-capacity magazines.

It also strengthened background checks and required mental health professionals to report patients who shouldn't be allowed to possess firearms.
