Public hearings are set for Tuesday afternoon and evening in Rochester on requests from two area utilities for rate increases.
NYSEG is asking regulators for a 23 percent increase in delivery rates, adding roughly $10 a month to typical bills. And RG&E is seeking a 5 percent increase, adding just under $3 to the average bill. Both also want a rate increase for natural gas -- amounting to about a dollar or a dollar-and-a-half a month.
The hearings are Tuesday at 1:30 and 6 at the Rochester City Council Chambers at City Hall.
