An investigation is underway after a 14-year-old girl was allegedly attacked while on a run in Riga this morning.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office says the teen had been out for a run between 7 and 8 this morning on a trail bordering Churchville Park when she reported being physically attacked and assaulted. Captain Samuel Bell says the victim is a dedicated runner and had run on this path many times before.
The man is being described as having a medium complexion and wearing a sleeveless or short sleeved shirt.
Authorities launched a full scale investigation including K-9 units, drones and a state police helicopter to search the area.
The teen was taken to Strong Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Anyone with any information is asked to call 911.
