Doorley Petitions Against Parole of Convicted Rapist, Murderer

Monroe County District Attorney Sandra Doorley is hoping to keep a convicted murderer and rapist behind bars.

The Parole Board is expected to interview James Moore for possible release this fall, but Doorley says he remains a threat to the community -- and she has created a petition opposing his release.

Moore was convicted of raping and murdering 14-year-old Pamela Moss in Penfield in 1962, and also confessed to sexually assaulting other victims.

At his sentencing more than 50 years ago, he agreed to spend the rest of his life in prison to avoid the death penalty -- but changes in state law have allowed him to annul that agreement.
