Monroe County Flags Flown Half-Staff in Honor of Paul Haney

Flags on all Monroe County buildings will be flown at half-staff in honor of former Monroe County Legislator Paul Haney.

Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo released a statement saying in part, "Mr. Haney was, in almost every respect, a ‘lion’ of the County Legislature, and it can certainly be said that no meeting of that body has been quite the same without him."

Haney died on Sunday at the age of 78.

“Paul Haney was dedicated to serving others. Whether in elected office or volunteering his time, he gave of his time and effort to make our community a better place. I ask our city to join me in extending our prayers and condolences to his loved ones during this difficult time.”

"I join all of Rochester in mourning the loss of Paul Haney, a longtime community leader who truly exemplified what it means to be a public servant. Paul dedicated his life to enthusiastically serving his neighbors and was always the first to lend a hand to anyone in need."
