Fourth Horse Dies in Six Days at Finger Lakes Racetrack

Four horses at Finger Lakes Racetrack have died in a six-day span this month. Three were sick and had to be euthanized, and a fourth suffered a fractured skull in a starting gate -- also requiring euthanasia. According to the Finger Lakes Times, the deaths were reported on a racing statistical website called Equibase. Other tracking sites indicate the number of horse deaths in the state has fallen in recent years, and the number of deaths at Finger Lakes has dropped since 2017.
