Fire at Former Rochester Psychiatric Center Ruled Arson

The fire at the former Rochester Psychiatric Center is being ruled as arson.

Officials say the fire that broke out at the high rise Saturday night, was intentionally set.

We've learned neighbors reported seeing trespassers at the building about two hours before the fire broke out. A source tells Bob Lonsberry that Rochester police chose not to enter the building to look for the intruders -- and that is a common response for such calls.

Five people were found inside, and two more were on the roof.

The Arson Task Force says more than one suspect is being sought as part of the investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or Crime Stoppers.

The building is owned by developer Robert Morgan, who had plans to redevelop the site before the federal investigation into his finances.
