Sex Offender Who Posed as Brockport College Student Pleads Guilty

A 21-year-old sex offender who posed as a Brockport College student to lure his victims has pleaded guilty to first degree sexual abuse and failure to register as a sex offender.

David Castaneda posed as a college student on social media before sexually assaulting a woman. He was caught through a joint investigation by the New York State Police, Brockport College Police and Brockport Village Police.

Castaneda was a registered Level 2 sex offender and failed to register his various social media accounts with the registry.

He'll be sentenced on July 18th.
