Batavia Police say Man Attempted to Kidnap Child During Church Service

Batavia Police say a man attending a church service on Sunday tried to kidnap a young child.

Police say 72-year-old Bruce Satelberg was attending the Everpresent Church on Sunday when he left the sanctuary and came back a few minutes later with a one-year-old child. The parents were sitting a few pews away and noticed Sattelberg holding their baby. They immediately took their child back and Sattelberg left the church.

Officers tracked down Sattelberg and he was arrested without incident. He was issued an appearance ticket for second degree unlawful imprisonment and will be in Batavia City Court on June 18th. He's also been barred from the Everpresent Church.
