Lake Levels Officially at a Record High

The water level on Lake Ontario is now at an all time high and winds are pushing that water onshore.

A flood warning is in effect through Tuesday morning at 8 for the entire U.S. lakeshore.

The National Weather Service says the combination of very high lake levels and moderately strong west to northwest winds will result in greater wave action and an increase in lakeshore flooding on the southern shoreline of the lake. And the waves will erode the shoreline.

Yesterday, volunteers from the Red Cross handed out free clean up kits in neighborhoods along the Monroe County shoreline.

They delivered 200 kits around Edgemere Drive, Old Edgemere Drive and West Beach Drive. Last week, trained disaster assessment teams went into the affected areas to determine the extent of flooding, identify high-needs neighborhoods and to map out a distribution plan.
