Rochester Officer Injured While Trying to Arrest Suspect

A Rochester police officer was injured after he was struck in the head with a bottle while trying to make an arrest. Investigators said the incident happened around 9 p.m. on the city's northwest side. The initial call was for a domestic dispute on Lake Avenue. Police reportedly encountered an intoxicated man at the scene. Robert Fleming, 31, of Rochester, allegedly attacked a male officer, striking him with a bottle, The officer sustained injuries to his head and arm and was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment. A woman at the house suffered minor injuries. Fleming is acing several charges, including second-degree assault upon a police officer, third-degree assault, criminal obstruction of breathing, menacing and criminal mischief.
