Dozens Protest Abortion Bans in Downtown Rochester

More than 100 protesters gathered around the Liberty Pole in downtown Rochester late this afternoon, protesting recent laws that all-but-ban abortion in several states.

Speakers called on people to elect progressive candidates and take control of the United States Senate and the Presidency in 2020.

Rally-goers say the restrictions are an attack on women's rights. The rally was one of several taking place across the nation, organized by the ACLU, Planned Parenthood and other groups.

Brighton Supervisor Bill Mohele told the crowd male politicians have no business telling women what they can and can't do.
