NYS GOP Chairman Ed Cox Leaving Position to Join Trump 2020 Campaign

A change is coming at the top of the New York State Republican Party.

Erie County GOP Chairman Nick Langworthy is poised to take over as the state chairman, succeeding Ed Cox -- who has led the state party for a decade.

Cox is leaving to lead fundraising in New York for President Trump's re-election campaign.

Langworthy was lining up support to challenge Cox for the state chairmanship -- and appeared close to defeating him -- before Cox announced his departure.

They'll meet this morning in Albany to discuss the transition then hold a joint news conference.
