The Town of Irondequoit plans to seek voter approval this summer for the borrowing needed to put a new community center inside the former Medley Centre Mall.
The Town Board is expected next week to schedule a July 30th bond referendum.
A portion of the mall -- now called Skyview on the Ridge -- would become the home base for the town Recreation Department. It would have a full gym with an elevated walking track, a fitness center, community meeting space, teen space (including a digital gaming room) and multi-use athletic space with artificial turf.
Construction is expected to cost $.8.5 million, and the referendum will ask for voter approval to borrow up to $7.25 million.
