The Rochester City Council is expected to vote next week on a plan to allow the bike share company, Zagster, to rent electric scooters, too.
The proposal also requires approval by the state legislature.
Zagster wants to make 400 scooters available for short-term rental with a smartphone app.
The scooters have a top speed of 15 miles per hour.
