Palmyra Man Accused of Assaulting, Strangling Woman

A Palmyra man is facing several charges after an incident early Wednesday morning. William Eugene Watson, 49, is accused of hitting a female multiple times in the face and strangling her four times, almost to the point of unconsciousness. Wayne County Sheriff's Deputies say Watson grabbed a shotgun and loaded two rounds, threatening to kill himself, the female and any police that tried to respond. They say he damaged the woman's cell phone. Watson was taken to the Wayne County Jail. He faces charges of Strangulation in 2nd degree, Criminal Mischief in 4th degree, Menacing in 2nd degree, Assault in 3rd degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in 4th degree.
