Body of Drowning Victim Found in Irondequoit Bay

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office says after hours of searching yesterday and last night, they've recovered the body of a drowning victim from Irondequoit Bay.

Webster Police, the Coast Guard, the West Webster Fire Department plus the sheriff's and State Police SCUBA teams located and recovered the body of a man who was lost when a canoe tipped over on the bay yesterday evening.

Three men in their 20s were in the canoe when it flipped about 100 feet from shore on the Webster side of the bay. It happened near the Stony Point Marina . Two of the men were able to make it to shore and call for help. The third, a 27-year-old Henrietta man, did not resurface.

The sheriff's office says his body is with the Monroe County Medical Examiner's Office for further investigation. His name has not been released at this time.
