Jury Deliberating in Trial of Former Rochester Judge

The jury has wrapped for the day in the weapons trial of former Rochester Judge Leticia Astacio and will resume work Friday morning. The defense rested its case this morning without calling her as a witness.

One defense witness WAS called; the prosecutor who handled the former judge's sentencing on a DWI charge. He testified Astacio was not specifically told at sentencing that her probation requirements prohibited her from owning a gun.

The jury was sent to an extended lunch, but ordered not to deliberate. They were charged and began deliberations in the afternoon. Before deliberations began, a male juror was dismissed and replaced by an alternate for falling asleep during the summation.

Astacio is accused of trying to buy a shotgun last year while on probation for DWI.
