NYSP: Sex Offender Posed as SUNY Brockport Student, Faces Charges

A level two sex offender is facing charges after he allegedly sexually abused a victim after posing as a SUNY Brockport student on social media.

State Police say David Castaneda is charged with first degree criminal sex act for an incident that happened in the Town of Sweden, back in October. He was also charged with 12 counts of falsifying a business record for filing false records with SUNY Brockport.

State Police say they worked in conjunction with SUNY Brockport Police, the New York State Intelligence Center and the village of Brockport Police Department.

The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are possible, and State Police say there may be other victims. Police say he may also be known as David Castaneda Trejo or David James.
