Rochester's Amtrak Station Named after Late Congresswoman Louise Slaughter

Rochester's redesigned Amtrak station has been formally re-named after the late Congresswoman Louise Slaughter.

It was Slaughter who secured more than $18 million in federal funding for the renovations, which were completed in 2017.

U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer was in town for the dedication ceremony, and says he can't think of a more fitting way to welcome the thousands of travelers to Rochester than with Slaughter's picture and name on the station.

Amtrak agreed to name the station for Slaughter just days after her death last March. The station will now be known as the “Louise M. Slaughter Rochester Station.”
