State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli says most of the state's cities and villages are in good fiscal health.
Using data from last year, he has identified seven villages and three cities in the state in some level of fiscal stress. Only one Western New York locale is on the list -- the village of Canisteo. It is described as “susceptible to fiscal stress.”
DiNapoli says his system is designed to help keep local officials and the public informed on the financial and demographic drivers of fiscal stress.
