NYS Department of Agriculture warning horse owners of Equine Herpes

State officials are advising horse owners and boarders to be on the lookout for signs their horses have a serious illness. There have been a number of confirmed cases of equine herpes statewide, including some in Geneseo. The virus is harmless for people but it can be spread by people from infected horses to non-infected horses.The symptoms in horses include fever, loss of balance and unsteady gait.
