A Nobel Prize winning physicist will be the May commencement speaker at the University of Rochester.
Donna Strickland earned her Ph.D. at the UofR and teachers now at the University of Waterloo, in Ontario, Canada.
Her graduate work in chirped pulse laser amplification at the UofR was honored by the Nobel committee last year. She became the third woman ever to receive the Nobel Prize in Physics, and the first woman laureate in University of Rochester history.
