City Council Approves Plan for East Side Police Substation

The Rochester City Council has approved plans for a permanent east side police substation in the Beechwood neighborhood.

The substation is currently renting temporary space at Village Gate.

Some residents will have to be relocated from the future site at Laura and East Main streets.

It's one of three planned substations in the city, at a cost of $30 million.

The City envisions its planned substations as anchors for their neighborhoods, with the police, community meeting space and Neighborhood Service Centers.
