Body Found in House Destroyed by Fire in Marion

One person has been confirmed dead in a house fire that broke out this afternoon in Marion.

State Police say that person was unaccounted for inside the home when crews arrived to fight the fire. A body has been found inside, but officials say they'll wait for autopsy results before confirming her identity.

The fire started around one o'clock on Cory Corners Road, near Pigeon Hill Road. Crews say they home was fully engulfed in flames when they got there. State Police say two troopers tried to get into the burning home but were driven back by the flames.

There was already a full crew at the Walworth Fire House when the Marion call came in because of an earlier fire in Williamson. That one broke out about 9:00 a.m. in a multifamily house at Maple Avenue and Ridge Road. Everyone got out safely, with one person going to the hospital for a minor burn.
