Sex Abuse Victim Receives Cash Settlement From Rochester Diocese

The first cash settlement has been reached in a new program by the Rochester Catholic Diocese to compensate survivors of sex abuse in the church. Retired State Supreme Court Justice Robert Lunn has recommended the victim receive $125,000 dollars. The victim’s name has not been disclosed. Justice Lunn has heard accounts of sex abuse from 15 victims and said he expects to hear more. The new program set up by The Rochester Diocese is independent. Prior to this program, The Rochester Diocese has paid out $1.6 million to victims of sex abuse.
