Two Men Used Counterfeit Money in Geneseo, Suspected in Four Other States

Two Buffalo-area residents are facing forgery charges for allegedly trying to pass a counterfeit $100 bill at the Wegmans store in Geneseo.

Livingston County Sheriff Tom Dougherty says store employees got a vehicle description and deputies spotted that car on Route 20A near 390. It was pulled over and the two men inside were arrested. Elijah Davis and Tawan Davis are both 22.

Investigators learned both men had been to the Geneseo Wegmans several times with fake hundreds, trying to use them for small purchases to get real money in change.

Deputies seized ten additional counterfeit bills and $2,500 in real cash.
