U.S. House Approves Legislation to Name Fairport Post Office for Slaughters

The House of Representatives has approved legislation renaming the Fairport Post Office for the late Congresswoman Louise Slaughter and her husband, Bob.

The legislation was pushed by Slaughter's successor, Congressman Joe Morelle. The bill will now be sent to the Senate.

On the floor today, he said naming the post for the Slaughters --  just blocks from their house --  is "a fitting tribute to a truly remarkable couple." And Morelle said that Slaughter left behind an incredible legacy that her colleagues witnessed first hand.
