NYS Trooper Killed in Car Crash Near Albany

The New York State Police are mourning the death of one of their own killed in a car accident on his way to work at the State Police barracks in Fonda, near the Albany area.

State Police say Trooper Jeremy VanNostrand was stopped in traffic -- waiting to turn into the station this morning -- when he was rear-ended and pushed into oncoming traffic.

He was taken to Albany Medical Center where he succumb to his injuries. He was a six year veteran of the State Police, and leaves behind a wife and daughter. 

Governor Cuomo has directed that all flags on state government buildings be flown at half-staff in honor of Trooper VanNostrand.
