Sen. Schumer Calls for Seat Size Standards on Airplanes

U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer says with the Thanksgiving holiday approaching, travelers who plan to fly are facing a painfully cramped trip.

That's thanks to shrinking seat sizes on airplanes. Schumer is calling on the FAA to comply with a law he authored that requires the agency to come up with minimum seat size standards on planes.

Seats that used to be 35 inches wide in the 1970s, are now just 31 inches.
